Self-taught architect Tadao Ando has been constantly delivering novel designs that challenge our preconceptions about architecture ever since he made a start to his architectural career as an “urban guerrilla” in 1969. He has continued to expand his activities around the world since the 1990s, and he has also been actively engaged in social contribution projects focused on environmental restoration and post-dsaster reconstruction.
This exhibition that delves into the past half-century of Tadao Ando’s career showcases more than 270 drawings and models of 89 of his projects, making it his largest solo show to date. It has been organized into 6 sections that together illustrate the remarkable trail of endeavors the extraordinary architect has left behind him and his visions for tomorrow.
By traversing the spaces filled with a rich variety of models and drawings, visitors will be able to retrace ANDO’s footprints and gain a renewed appreciation for the richness and infinite potential of the culture of architecture.In closing, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Tadao Ando for the tremendous effort he put into preparing this exhibition.
