Lyon, the central city in South-Central France, is about 2 hours distance from the Charles de Gaulle International Airport by TGV. It is a world-known gourmet city with about 450,000 in population.
Another 40 minutes SNCF (French railway) train ride will take you to “L’arbresle”, the nearest station to the Monastery of La Tourette, which represents Le Corbusier’s later years.
There is a station attendant selling tickets though nobody is standing at the gate. There are, of course, no taxi stands in front of an almost ghost station like this one. It is very meaningful to visit a monastery in a similar way as people did in the old days when they never imagined going there by car.
